Philip Knight is a non-scholarship player who has to work part-time for a sporting goods company to help pay his college bills. He is the only player on the team who uses public transportation to get to practice each day. He has a one-hour bus ride each way and is on the bus at 5:00 a.m. in order to be on time for 6:30 a.m. meetings. (San Jose State is a team that conducts practices in the morning.) Philip did no get a big push from his junior college coaches when it came time to move on to a four-year school. As fullback, he knows there is much opportunity for individual accolades. So, it's been his goal to be the best teammate possible.
