Garrett Chisolm
South Carolina
Nominated by Steve Spurrier
Senior

After a year in Columbia, Garrett Chisolm asked to walk-on at South Carolina. Coach Steve Spurrier said he could try out with the rest of the walk-ons and after his third tryout he was added to the team. Beginning as a scout-team performer, Chisolm rose up the depth chart quickly, even starting two SEC games during his first season. This year, Chisolm has started all but one game, that one coming when he went home for the death of his father. His mother also passed away in the past year. Garrett is a guy who does not seek attention and likes to keep to himself. He does not accept interview requests and works as hard as anyone to become a stalwart on the Gamecock offensive line that has led the Gamecocks to their first appearance in the SEC Championship game. This year he is also a semifinalist for the Campbell trophy, a member of the 2010 SEC Football Service Team, on the Dean’s List, SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll and also earned the Harold White GPA Award for spring 2010.
