My name is LeVon R. Morefield. I was born on February 27th, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio. I was born one month premature, and also addicted to crack/cocaine, as a result of my mother’s crack addiction. My biological mother and father were both crack addicts. I have one older sibling, a brother. Cliff and me have the same mother and father; Cliff was also born addicted to crack/cocaine. Cliff and me grew up together. We never lived in a stable home. We always moved around from home to home, whether it was my mother’s mom’s house, or an aunt’s house, or a friends house, we have never lived in a stable home. Growing up with this rough background proves one of two things. It proves that you can become a product of your environment, which my brother Cliff did, and is now serving a life sentence in prison. It also proves that you can take the negatives of your life and turn them into a positive energy towards excelling for success, as I did, and my background is the reason that I am so motivated today. I am a student at The University of Akron. I also play football here. I am a non-scholarship athlete, so I am basically paying to play. My entire life, nothing was ever given to me. I always had to work hard to get anything that I wanted. This still applies today. Being a non-scholarship athlete has proven tough. I put in jus as much time and dedication as the other players, I have to attend every meeting, every practice, and every lifting session, I have to do everything that they do, except they get paid to do it, and I’m paying to do it.
