Toney is not what you would typically think of with regard to the 'Rudy' award. Toney was one of, if not the, most sought after running backs in the nation coming out of high school. He had strong freshman and sophomore seasons before having his career derailed just partially through the first game of the 2007 season. Toney was sidelined for two entire seasons, and faced the potential of never playing football again. Had he listened to the doctors he would have done just that never played another down. However, through his hard work, character, courage, and commitment to his team and his football career, Toney has made it back on the field in 2009 and enjoyed tremendous success. He never complained or felt sorry for himself. Rather through hard work and a belief that he could do the impossible, Toney has put himself in a position to fulfill his dreams.
