Brian has had to overcome what most would consider impossible odds. Family violence spiraled out of control in his childhood home. His mother, in self defense, shot and killed Brian's father. The subsequent jail time and her drug use forced Brian and his siblings into the ugly world of foster care, which was only made worse when the harsh realities of Hurricane Katrina forced him out of the one positive foster care situation he had. Brian didn't just survive, though. He excelled in a situation that would cause most to give up. Now he's the starting defensive end for the University of Missouri.
